At National Youth Theater West Houston, our studio classes help students develop artistic skills while building confidence, communication, creativity, and leadership that will benefit them throughout life.
Our experienced instructors are selected for their professionalism, passion for teaching, and commitment to mentoring young people. Every class is taught in a positive, Christ-centered environment where students are encouraged to grow both as performers and as individuals.

Class Descriptions
🎭 Theater Drama (Ages 6–7)
Spark your child’s imagination through the exciting world of theater! Young performers learn acting fundamentals through creative play, storytelling, movement, music, improvisation, and dramatic games.
Students will:
- Build confidence on stage
- Develop creativity and imagination
- Learn teamwork and listening skills
- Practice self-expression and stage presence
- Discover theater etiquette in a fun, encouraging environment
Perfect for children who love to pretend, create, and perform.
🎭 Drama & Improv (Ages 8–19)
Think fast, create boldly, and have fun on stage! This high-energy class combines acting fundamentals with improvisation through theater games, scene work, creative challenges, and performance exercises.
Students will develop:
- Acting technique
- Character development
- Creativity and storytelling
- Communication skills
- Stage presence
- Confidence and quick thinking
Whether students are new to theater or experienced performers, Drama & Improv offers an exciting way to grow while making new friends.
🎤 Voice (Ages 8–19)
Develop a healthy, confident singing voice while learning the fundamentals of musical theater performance.
Students receive instruction in:
- Vocal technique
- Breath support
- Tone production
- Pitch matching
- Rhythm
- Diction
- Musical expression
Throughout the year, singers strengthen musicianship, build confidence, and prepare for auditions, productions, concerts, and solo performances in a supportive environment.
🩰 Jazz/Ballet (Ages 12–19)
This class blends the strength and discipline of ballet with the energy and versatility of jazz.
Students will work on:
- Classical ballet technique
- Center work
- Adagio
- Turns and jumps
- Across-the-floor progressions
- Jazz combinations
- Flexibility and strength
- Musicality and artistry
Throughout the year, dancers will develop proper alignment, balance, coordination, and expressive performance skills while progressing from foundational techniques to more advanced turns, leaps, extensions, and choreography in a supportive, challenging environment.
Ideal for dancers looking to build strong technical skills while becoming confident, expressive performers.
💃 Dance Movement (Ages 6–7)
Designed for young dancers, this fun and engaging class introduces ballet and jazz through creative movement, music, and imaginative activities.
Students will build:
- Coordination
- Balance
- Rhythm
- Flexibility
- Musicality
- Body awareness
- Classroom confidence
A wonderful first dance class that encourages creativity, teamwork, and a lifelong love of dance.
✨ Jazz (Ages 8–11)
This energetic class introduces students to jazz dance while building a solid technical foundation.
Students will learn:
- Jazz technique
- Stretching and warm-ups
- Turns and jumps
- Across-the-floor combinations
- Rhythm and musicality
- Performance skills
Classes progress throughout the year, helping dancers gain confidence while mastering age-appropriate technique and choreography.
